Young People: our future
Every November, the Philippines celebrates National Children's Month. Giving Filipino children access to healthy environments, quality education and healthcare is the goal of this month-long celebration. The Philippines' national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, said young people are the future of the country and raising children is key to improving the next generation.
Many schools also celebrated the national children's month by organizing sports events, seminars, motivational speeches to students and many other events for children. Teachers and parents also shower their love and affection towards the child by distributing gifts, chocolates, and toys. Such gestures are very welcoming as the children learn to share and accommodate for everyone in society with them. Such gestures also instill a sense of equality among children.
National Children’s Month encourages Filipinos to take part in this movement. Children are individuals; thus, they should have their own rights. Additionally, these rights should be experienced by all and not just those who are in high economic status. The love and care that we— Children today receive, disregarding social and economic status, will bloom as the fate of our country tomorrow. Children’s day celebration is a tribute to this thought.
